Sweden - Arvidsjaur
It can get cold, very cold in Arvidsjaur. This is one of the reasons why the oldest church town in the country, Lappstaden, is nearly deserted in winter.

Although it is mainly an open-air museum these days where you can see the original lapp-huts, some Laplanders still go there to spend some days during summer. During the other time of the year, you can indulge in ice-fishing, enjoy the ebautiful surroundings and sleep in the original huts while the lapps (reindeers) scuffle around your tent.
